bart is going to say who will pay for those higher figures. >>reporter: according to bart and the transit agency has raised fears every other year since 2006 they say to keep up with inflation. this year they use a budget surplus to delay it by six months. now, bart officials are contemplating how this increase will be applied to those writing. three options are being considered each expected to raise about $5 million. option one will add 1.4% to the cost of every ride. this could be from no increase to 155. option to increase the cost of trends they ride a bike 105. these are routes that crossed the bay. option three would increase the cost of every trip by 55. officials say this will help to raise money needed to replace its fleet of more than 600 cars. most are about 42 years old. depending on which option they go with. some will have to pay more and others may not have to pay at all. bart plans to hold five community meetings where riders can voice their concerns and offer feedback on these proposed options. >>james: we spoke with writers
